Days out visiting eclectic London - October 2013

First to South Ken. to walk past 71 Princes Gate (now owned by the Imperial College I've heard) on the way to see the just opened Dame Zaha Hadid extension to the Sakler Gallery in Hyde Park, then over to see the Jonathan Yeo exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Just a few hours later I had a chance to hear a lecture at the Royal Institution at 21 Albemarle Street where my childhood hero Michael Faraday did his brilliant experiments and gave scinterlating talks. I was even allowed to see one of the 14 Nobel Prize Certificates won by people who have worked in this magnificent Georgian building. Use link to 'London' in Navigation Bar to see a slide show.

Jean and Laurie reach 45 years and still going - just!!

We decided to celebrate quietly by trekking up to Yorkshire via Rutland, stopping for 2 nights in Shipley to visit Ilkley - all booked out for weeks ahead - for a special meal at the Box Tree and then to walk around Skipton's street market before heading into glorious York to re-visit the Minster and Jorvik.  A memorable photo follows plus a slide show on the 'Anniversaries' page listed in the Navigation area on the left.
